    The School District of Borough of Morrisville does not discriminate in any manner, including Title IX sexual harassment, in any district education program or activity.

    What is the history of Title IX?
    Title IX is a civil rights statute enacted in 1972 to prohibit discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities.

    What does Title IX state?
    "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." 20 USCA Sec. 1681

    What is the purpose of Title IX?
    Title IX is  a statute "designed primarily to prevent recipients of Federal financial assistance from using the funds in a discriminatory manner."

    What is Sexual Harassment?

    • A school employee conditioning an educational benefit or service upon a person's participation in unwelcome sexual conduct

    • Unwelcome conduct determined by a reasonable person to be so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive that it effectively denies a person equal access to the school's education program or activity

    • Sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking

    Sexual Harassment is defined as "conduct on the basis of sex that satisfies one or more of the following: (1) An employee of the District conditioning the provision of an aid, benefit, or service of the District on an individual's participation in unwelcome sexual conduct; (2) Unwelcome conduct determined by a reasonable person to be so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive that is effectively denied a person equal access to the District's education program or activity; or (2) "Sexual assault" as defined in 20 U.S.C. 1092 (f)(6)(A)(v), "dating violence" as defined in 34 U.S.C. 12291 (a)(10), "domestic violence" as defined in 34 U.S.C. 12291 (a)(8), or "stalking" as defined in 34 U.S.C. 12291 (a)(30).

    How to File a Complaint

    If you believe that you, a student or staff member, has been sexually harassed, you can report the incident(s) to any school administrator or the district's Compliance Officer/Title IX Coordinator. The Compliance Officer/Title IX Coordinator can help you decide if any action needs to be taken and how best to address your situation.
