Schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS)
Schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) is a proactive approach to discipline that promotes appropriate student behavior and increased learning. The foundation of this program will be implemented in Morrisville Middle School (grades 6-8) during the 2016-17 school year. This foundational Tier I provides a system of supports to all students based on preventative practice that emphasize teaching and reinforcing expected student behaviors.
Students are taught and expected to Persevere, Accept responsibility, Cooperate, and be Kind (PACK). Expected behaviors in locations throughout the school are explicitly taught, practiced, and reinforced. Locations include arrival/dismissal, hallway, cafeteria, classroom, bathroom/locker room, and the auditorium. Details can be found in the matrix below.
The SWPBIS Team is excited about this new initiative. We look forward to putting rewarding, motivational activities and incentives into place. This program does have significant start-up costs as well as ongoing costs to sustain it. We will be holding fundraising activities throughout the year to support this program.
