Music

Greetings!

Welcome to the Music Page.  This is a new adventure for all of us.  I travel between the two schools so you can always catch me at one of the two schools.

I teach general music classes to all the elementary grades.

Kindergarten:  We are learning how to clap rhythms.  We will learn how to keep steady beats, identify loud and soft music, identify high and low music, and tell if a song has an accompaniment.  We also will sing lots of songs.

First: We are clapping rhythmic patterns. This year will will learn how to hear the steady beats, learn how to identify voices, and some instruments.  We will learn how to identify fast and slow tempos, loud and soft sounds. Once again we will learn a lot of new songs.

Second:  This is a new exciting year for second graders.  This year we will go from clapping rhythmic patterns, to writing rhythmic patterns.  We are learning how to identify rhythmic patterns by pointing to them on the chart. This is also the grade that we learn how to follow the music in our song books.  We also have learned how to idenify the meter of songs.  We will be able to understand new music terms.  We will learn how to follow the notes and be able to hear how the notes move.

Third - Fifth grades:   We will learn a patriotic song.  We also will be able to identify voices.  We will begin a unit on instruments of an orchestra.  The classes will be divided in groups and they will research an instrument to present to the class.  We will learn about meters this years and also about
